What’s new in Both Yards

Our team ships updates often. Here is what changed lately, newest first. Have an idea for what should come next? Tell us.

  1. Version 1.2.16

A tour of the app, and deeper lessons

    • New: a Tour of the app. It walks you through your real screens one stop at a time, and changes nothing along the way. Find it in More under Tutorials.
    • Leave the tour whenever you like. It remembers where you stopped, and when you finish it takes you back to where you were.
    • The Home and Work lessons go further now: filters, search, assigning, notes and photos, repeats, and the 5-second Undo.
    • Like everything else here, it only starts when you ask it to.
  2. Version 1.2.15

    Small tutorial tweaks

    • The Stock lesson now tells you up front that it adds a real item, and that you can clean it up at the end.
    • On phones, the tutorial card no longer sits on top of the first box you need to fill in.
  3. Version 1.2.14

Learn by doing: short tutorials right in the app

    • Short hands-on lessons walk you through the real screens for your home, your work, or both. Tap Next, or just do the step.
    • Find them any time under More, then Help & legal, then Tutorials. Finished ones get a tick, and you can replay them.
    • If a step adds something real, we tell you first, and you can clean it up at the end. Skip whenever you like.
  4. Version 1.2.12

A quick welcome tour for new folks, and a getting-started checklist

    • New here? A short welcome tour shows the basics for your home, your work, or both. Skip it any time.
    • A getting-started checklist on your home screen ticks off as you go. Close it with the X and it stays closed.
    • Want either one again? Open More, then Help & legal, and tap Quick tour or Show getting started.
  5. Version 1.2.11

Undo, help close by, and dark mode on bothyards.com

    • Tapped Done, Delete, Got it or Remove by mistake? Hit Undo on the little note that pops up.
    • Help, Status, Terms, Privacy and a way to reach our team now sit in More and Account.
    • Password fields have a Show button, and new accounts see the 8-character rule right away.
    • Starting a new place? Pick its time zone, shown by name, like Eastern Time.
    • bothyards.com follows your phone’s dark mode.
    • Lots of small polish: clearer labels, tidier admin pages, “just now” on new messages, and use-by dates on expired food.
  6. Version 1.2.10

Fixes you asked for, and a calmer phone

    • Password reset links work again: open the email, pick a new password, done.
    • Deleting a chore now asks first, then takes you back to your chore list.
    • Sign-in takes you straight back to the page you were opening.
    • The At the store, Messages and camera buttons no longer sit on top of what you’re typing or the end of a list.
    • Home talks like home: no quotes, invoices or job words on your chores, and “This week” really is this week.
    • Clearer plan wording on Billing and Settings, a full place name in the phone header, and a “Clock in” button that says what it does.
    • No more “items waiting” notification on Android. Your widgets still show what’s up.
    • On bothyards.com, a menu on phones and the same tidy header and footer on every page.
  7. Version 1.2.6

A notifications bell, and free plans that stay free

    • A new notifications bell at the top of Home and Work: see what’s active, tap one to open it, and clear what you’re done with.
    • If our team has given your place a complimentary plan, it’s now protected: it stays free, and there’s nothing on Billing to manage or change by accident.
    • Friends and family we invite with a free plan now get it set up automatically when they create their place (version 1.2.5).
    • A tidier invite list for our team, so we can keep track of who we’ve invited.
  8. Version 1.2.4

Cleaner links and a real feedback form

    • Shorter, tidier web addresses across the app. Old bookmarks still work and take you to the right place.
    • A new in-app feedback form: tell us about a bug, an idea or anything else, right from More or Account.
    • Need a person? You can now reach our team at support@bothyards.com.
  9. Version 1.2.3

    Quieter, smarter behind the scenes

    • Smarter error monitoring, so our team hears about real problems faster and fixes them sooner.
    • Fairer sign-in limits that still slow down repeated guessing.
  10. Version 1.2.2

    A cleaner authenticator QR code

    • The QR code for two-step sign-in is cleaner and easier for authenticator apps to scan.
  11. Version 1.2.1

    Room to grow with add-ons

    • Add extra Work seats, extra Home members, or extra Home and Work places to your plan from Billing & plans.
  12. Android app 1.3.2

Android app, ready for Google Play

    • A crisper app icon that sits neatly in your launcher, plus a cleaner notification icon.
    • Sign in with your email and password. Google sign-in isn’t switched on yet.
    • Links from our emails, like password resets and email checks, open right in the app.
    • The Android app is on its way to Google Play. Until then, Both Yards works in any phone browser at app.bothyards.com.
  13. Version 1.2

    Two-step sign-in and email verification

    • Two-step sign-in: add a code from an authenticator app (or an emailed code) after your password, with backup codes for a rainy day.
    • New accounts now confirm their email address before the first sign-in.
    • An updated, easier-to-read Privacy Policy.
  14. Version 1.1

    A 30-day undo, and a simpler app

    • Changed your mind? Deleted places and accounts can be restored for 30 days.
    • Clear all the example data in one tap when you are ready to make a place your own.
    • One Settings menu for everything, in a clear order.
    • Screens that did nearly the same job are merged, so there is less to learn.
  15. Versions 1.0.1 & 1.0.2

    Launch-week polish

    • Mistyped a link? You now get a friendly “page not found” page instead of landing somewhere unexpected.
    • Stronger browser protections across the website and the app.
    • Extra protection against repeated sign-in attempts.
  16. Launch

Both Yards is open to everyone

    • Anyone can create an account and run their house, their shop, or both from one login.
    • Every new place starts with a 14-day free trial.
